If you live outside the city, but have long lusted for Chattanooga’s gigabit Internet, here’s some good news.
The FCC has voted 3 to 2 to allow EPB to expand Internet service beyond the county.
The utility anticipates it would first move into Bradley County. Marion County has also expressed interest in the gig.
However, the FCC’s vote is expected to be challenged in court and in Congress because state laws still restrict municipal broadband from moving into neighboring areas.
EPB says it intends to expand only to communities that want it, and only if it makes financial sense.
