But it pays a high price for that reputation.More than half of the Vietnamese children in Germany attend gymnasium, a secondary school that emphasizes academic learning. That is a higher rate than among German pupils. Vietnamese families place great value on their children's education. The high expectations put particular pressure on boys, who have far more opportunities in Germany than their parents did back in Vietnam.
