Chattanooga’s Electric Power Board was founded in 1935 and began delivering power from TVA in 1939. In 2007, the public utility announced plans to challenge incumbent cable and internet providers with its innovative “Fiber to the Home” initiative. EPB Fiber Optics became one of the first in the nation to offer 1 Gig speed to business and residential customers in 2012. By 2015, Chattanooga became the first US city to enjoy 10 Gigabit speeds.
